Our Mission

Christian beliefs help us make sense of the world that we live in. How can we explain the presence of both incredible beauty and ugliness in the world? Why do we see not only supreme Goodness but also diabolical evil? A knowledge of basic Christian beliefs helps us wrestle with questions that have baffled people for centuries.

First, they strengthen our identity in Christ. To a culture that says “you are what you own, achieve and accomplish,” the Scriptures make clear that our identity is not tied up in any of those things. We begin to realize that we are who God says we are, regardless of our position in life. We begin to live in the reality of our true identity, as His beloved, adopted children, redeemed for the purpose of “taking Jesus as He is to people as they are.”

Second, Christian beliefs strengthen our identity in Christ. Our culture urges us to seek our identity in our possessions, our personal achievements or our career. Yet, Scripture tells us our identity is not derived from these things. It does not depend on how others see us, but how God sees us. As we learn the essential beliefs of Christianity, we begin to discover who we really are.

Third, Christian beliefs not only guide our thinking but also direct our behavior. In our day, we desperately need men and women of integrity, people who are living examples of Biblical values. The Holy Spirit gradually transforms us into the likeness of Christ Himself. Christian beliefs build Christian character.

Finally and most importantly, Christian beliefs help us draw near to God. As we look into the Scriptures, we come to know the Author of Scripture. Biblical truths become a window into the heart and mind of God. In our day there is a wishy-washy relativism that masquerades as faith. "It doesn't matter what you believe, just as long as you believe." "All roads lead to God." "The important thing is to be sincere." If we know what we believe, we will resist shallow claims. God is personal and seeks a continuing love relationship with us that is real and personal. He has told us about Himself and what He requires of us. All the rich knowledge of God is expressed through our Christian beliefs.

If we approach the Scriptures with humility and a willing heart, Christian beliefs will strengthen our faith and ignite our souls.

FAQ

1. How did Rock Creek begin?

In November of 1995, Mark Evans moved back home to Little Rock to start a church for the un-churched. Understanding that many people don't go to church because it is boring and irrelevant, Mark began The Church at Rock Creek with 25 people. Believing that people really do matter to God, The Church at Rock Creek has grown from 25 to over 5000 people attending the weekend services. Rock Creek is a place where people from all walks of life fit in and find opportunities to grow. The church's primary purpose is people... to meet the needs of people and to show them how to establish and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.

2. What does Rock Creek believe?

Even though Rock Creek is non-traditional in style, we are deeply committed to the eternal truths of the Bible. Our vision is to take Jesus as He is to people as they are. Click here to learn in depth what Rock Creek believes.

5. What about my children?

While you are enjoying an exciting worship service, your children are being well cared for in a safe and clean age-appropriate environment. We have classes for infants through fifth grade during each of our worship services. Learn more about how it's fun to be a Rock Creek Kid.

If your child is in sixth grade, we have a special event called Trek6 which happens on Sunday mornings during the second worship service. Learn more about Trek6.

6. What do you have for junior high and high school students?

Our students are a top priority at Rock Creek. We have more than you can imagine. Learn more about our Student Ministry. If you have questions, email our Student Ministry Pastor, Jason Curry.

7. Are all the weekend services the same?

We have four weekend worship services. All four services are the same topic. There are children's classes during every worship service except for the 12:30-1:00pm (Rock Creek 30) service.

8. Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything or be singled out in any way?

If you are visiting, we won't ask you to give a dime. We don't make you wear a visitor badge or stand up and stand out like a sore thumb. We want you to remain as anonymous as you want to, but we encourage you to visit our church over several weeks to see what's going on at Rock Creek. Also check out the message archives and watch the previous series and services.

9. How do I join Rock Creek?

If you would like to join Rock Creek, we invite you to begin the Life Development Process where four classes are offered. The first class is our Rookie Class and is taught by founding pastor, Mark Evans. He tells the Rock Creek story and you will find out where we've been, where we are going and why we do the things we do at Rock Creek. At the conclusion of the class, you get the opportunity to join the church. Call us at 225-8684 to find out when the next class is.
