Saw a lot of football games this past weekend. In one game the field goal kicker was called in with the game on the line and he missed the kick. Another game, same scenario, the kicker made the field goal and his team won.
God has a habit of calling our number when we least expect it. Because of this we can squander incredible opportunities to get off the sideline and into the game – to kick that winning field goal we’ve always dreamed of kicking.
Another reason we miss these opportunities is because God can disguise them in mundane moments. We expect fireworks to go off when He is about to use us. Fireworks are the exception, not the rule. It's those moments we often overlook that are the ones God wants to use.
Truth is every moment, mundane or mind-boggling, has the potential to be a God-moment. We need to have our mind in the game at all times if we expect to kick that winning field goal. To do this we must:
1. Be ENGAGED: expect God to use you. Choose to join God in what he is doing. Take the initiative by looking for opportunities instead of waiting on them to come to you.
2. Be BOLD: Go unless you get a clear no. Lean forward not backward. Accept uncertainty. God grows our faith the more we let him stretch us. Being in God’s will is dangerous but not as dangerous as being outside His will!
3. Be CONTAGIOUS: Influence flows naturally from who we are. It is built on relationships and born out of trust. God wants you to take people to places they would never go on their own. He wants you to leave His fingerprints all over someone else’s life.
In every generation there are a few people prepared to take Jesus seriously. What would it be like if you were one of them?
