Rock Creek has worked in Brazil since the first part of 2007. We partner with Primeira Igreja Batista de Santos Dumont (PIBSD). Santos Dumont is a city of 40,000 three hours northwest of Rio de Janeiro. 

In 2007 we helped PIBSD establish a Care Center in Santos Dumont. The Care Center offers computer classes on an ongoing basis. Sewing classes and hair cutting are also taught. Rock Creek teams have helped PIBSD distribute food in some of the poorer areas of Santos Dumont and teach sewing and hair cutting at the Care Center. Our teams have also conducted festivals in the elementary schools located in the poor areas of Santos Dumont. Our teams also helped PIBSD start a women’s ministry, a men’s ministry, a youth ministry, a children’s ministry, and a small group ministry. 

In 2009 we branched out to Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. This city of 1.5 million is located in the Southern part of Brazil. We are working with a local church that serves a very poor area of that city. Opportunities here include working with children, adults, medical and dental clinics as well as construction projects.
